I’m
the founding editor of dsmArts, a quarterly publication
covering the arts and culture in the greater Des Moines area.
This journey began in early 2007 when I decided that there
wasn’t enough coverage of the local arts scene, a growing,
thriving community. So I approached a publishing company about
creating a magazine together, and the first issue was published
in February 2008. I’m responsible for all editorial
aspects, including generating ideas, assigning stories and
editing copy. For a copy of dsmArts, please
contact
me.
 I’ve
been a regular project and contributing editor for several
Midwest Living publications, including Best of the
Midwest (2001-2007) and Go! Travel Ideas (2006-2007),
a travel supplement that was distributed with American
Profile.
Before freelancing, I was a features editor at the statewide
Des Moines Register, where I directed reporters and
edited the travel and lifestyle sections. In Kansas City,
I edited for the business and features departments at the
Kansas City Star, and I was founding editor of New Age
Living, a nationally distributed magazine. For more on
